Back to basics In #LBC

Stepped in on #Agenda Thursday
felt like I sidestepped into 1991
ASR, back to basics sans all the big snowboard booths.

One to two spaces max no super booths for the most part those were only maybe 4-6 but not outrageous.
Quite refreshing - spaces decorated with boards as well!
It was cool- no hype trying to get thru surf either or jammed walkways with Reef lurkers.

DMX in da house, Berrica reppin hard - congrats at Steve! Wow! It's it's own entity!

Home recouping with minimal sleep.

Best part seing closest friends & ones I hadn't seem in a bit!

STUNNED FANS, MEDIA AWES, FANS OUTRAGE, LA, QUESTIONS???

STUNNED FANS
MEDIA AWES
FANS OUTRAGED
LA
QUESTIONS?

WELL FIRST OFF, YES, I WAS SURPRISED AT THE OUTCOME OF DEAN SPANOS DECISION TO STAY COURSE WITH HC NORV TURNER AND GM AJ SMITH

MY MIND FLOODS WITH QUESTIONS
ALL DAY YESTERDAY AND AGAIN THIS MORNING.

DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT PREP & RESEARCH DEAN SPANOS DID??

SO A FEW SENARIOS……………
LET'S JUST SAY, AND MOST LIKELY WELL NEVER KNOW,  DEAN SPANOS OR A FEW COLLEAGUES DID TALK TO FISHER, COWER AND GRUDEN'S PEOPLE…….

LET'S SAY THE PRICE WAS TOO HIGH
AND/OR  WHAT I TEND TO THINK A VERY IMPORTANT THOUGHT, THAT THEY WOULD NOT COME TO SAN DIEGO WITH AJ AT THE HELM.

AND IF YOU BELIEVE WHAT I DO, NO PASSIONATE FIERY COACH WOULD COME TO SAN DIEGO WITH AJ IN PLACE, NOT ANY I BELIEVE IN.

OK, AS YOU SEE MY THOUGHTS ARE ALL OVER THE BOARD
AS THE SAYING GOES
IF ITS NOT BROKEN DON'T FIX IT!   ISN'T THE  FLIP APPLICABLE??

AND IF YOU BELIEVE WHAT PLAYERS AND ANALYST STATE
THAT A TEAM TAKES ON THE PERSONALITY OF IT'S HEAD COACH
WOULDN'T YOU ARGUE THAT SOME CHANGE WAS WARRANTED?

ANOTHER THOUGHT………..LETS SAY THAT NORV WAS TO BE FIRED……

DON'T YOU THINK THAT THE LONG LIST OF CONTRACTS ON THE TABLE, MOSTLY OFFENSIVE PLAYERS WOULD HAVE BEEN A FACTOR?

DON'T YOU THINK THAT NORV WOULD HAVE RALLIED TO TAKE THESE PLAYERS?

CONTRACTS EXPIRING AFTER 2011 SEASON

TE     RANDY MCMICHAEL
RB     MIKE TOLBERT
C     NICK HARDWICK
T    JARED GAITHER
WR   PATRICK CRAYTON
FB   JACOB HESTER
WR  VINCENT JACKSON
WR  RICHARD GOODMAN
OL  BRANDYN DOMBROWSKI
OL  SCOTT MRUCZKOWSKI
OL  TONY MOLL
TE KORY SPERRY
WR BRYAN WALTERS

LB    NA'IL DIGGS
NT  ANTONIO GARAY
SS  STEVEN GREGORY
DT  TOMMIE HARRIS
DB  PAUL OLIVER
LS MIKE WINDT

ANOTHER PONDER……..OR PROOF IN REGARDS TO JUMPIN SHIP
LOOK AT THE LAST PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, EVERY TOM, DICK AND HARRY THAT WASN'T EVEN REGISTERED TO VOTE.  VOTED FOR OBAMA OUT OF IGNORANCE OR DESPERATION OF WANTING CHANGE, BUT BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR ,LOOK AT WHAT OBAMA HAS DONE…………….
WERE YOU THAT OBLIVIOUS OR IN DIRE STRAITS TO THINK THAT HE WOULD DO WHAT HE SAID?
JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT

LA.......RUMORS HAVE BEEN DRIFTING ALL OVER FOR A FEW YEARS, MY DAD IS ACTUALLY FRIEND'S WITH THE DEVELOPER, HES BEEN TELLING ME FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS YOUR CHARGERS ARE GOING TO LA.  RECENTLY I HEARD HINTS THAT REFLECTED THAT FROM RELIABLE SOURCES.

NOW THAT I'VE VOMITED MANY THOUGHTS TRAPPED IN MY HEAD, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR WHAT AN OWNER WOULD SAY, THAT WOULD BE THE INTERVIEW I'D LIKE, BUT IT WOULD NEED TO BE OFF THE RECORD.  WHAT AN AMAZING PERSPECTIVE THAT WOULD BE!

I DO WANT TO GIVE BIG PROPS TO THE DARREN SMITH SHOW ON XX1090.
MARTY CASWELL THE PRODUCER (EXTRAORDINAIRE)  WAS ABLE TO GET ALL THE MOST SIGNIFICANT GUESTS AND DARREN WOOED ME WITH HIS DIRECT QUESTIONS AND FANTASTIC INTERVIEWING.  ALSO, PAUL RUDY AT KUSI PUT TOGETHER AN AMAZING PACKAGE ON THE CRAZY DAY IN SAN DIEGO.

IT ALL REMINDED ME OF THE FIRES, IT WAS A MEDIA HAY DAY!

It's Not What IF, It's What is..........

LOOKIN AT THE TIE BREAKER SCENARIO

Last Monday, after the Chargers lost in Detroit,
I started looking at the record.  Even more closely, wondering.....
How they could be out of it, even for a tie breaker?

I came up with a new and possible story line.

If Chargers beat Oakland
and Kansas City beat Denver
All 3 would be tied at 8-8
The division would be tied at 3-3
and in the conference
the Chargers would be be the winning team at 7-5,
while Broncos and Chiefs would be at 6-6........

HOWEVER, the NFL tie breaking rule is as such
per NFL.com  http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakingprocedures

Three or More Clubs

(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated during any step, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of the two-club format).
  1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs).
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in common games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss

Which still doesn't make any sense to me.  I wish I could call Roger Godell and ask, why.....?

Regardless....It is what it IS!!

One of the reporters at Charger Park yesterday asked Norv, if he agreed with the tie breaking method the NFL has.   He replied, "he hadn't taking a lot of thought in it and best deal is obviously not to be in a tie breaker."

BREES CROWNED WITH NEW RECORD

CONGRATULATIONS
TO
DREW BREES

Last night Drew Brees surpassed Dan Marino's single season passing record made in 1984.  5087 PASSING YARDS IN A SINGLE SEASON with one game left in the regular season!
Are you kidding!!!!

Ironically enough as, CHARGER fans looked on, it was broken by two former San Diego players.
The 9' TD pass to Darren Sproles, put Drew up on the Record books,  Marino's record for 27 years from back in his 2nd year in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.

The league has changed as you know it has become a quarterback driven league, but still.........5084 PASSING YARDS!!

This accomplishment, as spoken by Brees in post game locker room was a total Saints Victory, from the equipment managers, coaches, owners, O-line, D-line, all the receivers and backs, no one was left out.

A class FULL gratitude speech from a special player.

Congrats Drew!

Many Charger fans continually are bitter that these 2 players were left out not to mention Michael Turner, also on the field last night.  I don't believe that Brees would have flourished as he has in New Orleans.  There is something special that happened in that city after Katrina.  I think of it as the Island of Misfit Toys:  Payton, Brees, Shockey and the city came together with chips on their shoulders, all rejected for some reason or another, some special ingredients..........& lots of LOVE.

The love wasn't here in San Diego, it couldn't be.....and as the phrase speaks,
Wasn't meant to be........

As for Michael Turner, LT was in great form and would have continued had it not been for the release of Lorenzo Neal, look at the stats!  Turner needed to be the #1 back, too!

Also on the note of Sproles, well, I'm right there with you!  He is NOT an up the middle back as was illustrated in last year at SD..........Boy are his returns missed!!.............Sean Payton has used his strengths, I think an ingredient he has done with the entire team....

CONGRATS AGAIN TO THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS &
CAPTAIN.....DREW BREES

HOPE IN SAN DIEGO

A WIN IS A WIN!!!

San Diego came out Charging on Monday Night Football!!

HOPE
HOPE
HOPE

Although it was a 3-8  struggling Jaguar team, stakes were HIGH, for both.
A dangereous Monday night platform;
new coach, new owner and job security on the line for everyone on and off the field,
the ingredients for a
A TRAP GAME.

The same was true on the other end of the field, but

Lightning Bolted & Jolted

Rivers had best performance 22-28, 294 yrds & 3 TD
Mathews 13 carries for 112 yds, 1 TD ( 2nd consecutive 100 plus yard game)
Floyd 4 for 108 yrds, 1TD,
Vincent Jackson, 4 for 72 yrds, 1 TD
Antonio Gates, 6 for 70 and
Vincent Brown, 1 for 22, 1TD
Eric Weddle with 4 tackles and a pick
and Takeo Spikes leading with 9 tackles and Donald Butler just behind with 8.

All and all a full 60 minutes of football.

But more importantly, they WON!
Its also CONTAGIOUS!
Hope is in the air!!
And if your a Charger fan, your sleeping a little better tonite along with a big smile.

I won't  go in to any negative notes on the wins and the opponents, this team needs all and only the GOOD that will breed more positive and good.
