WHAT'S YOUR NAME? TURN AROUND.......

MORE TO THE STORY THAN MY LAUGHS

I'm sure you got as good a laugh as I did with ESPN's MNF montage of mic'd up video highlights.
I laughed every time and even more so on this particular part of the video.

Especially Houston Texan RB, Arian Foster's words to Jimmy Wilson, CB for the Miami Dolphins
"What's Ya Name?  Turn Around.......I Don't Know You Bro"

Tonite, while watching my favorite show, "Inside The NFL" on SHOWTIME, compliments of the one and only NFL Films.  I got a little more to the story, as did everyone watching, they played against each other in high school, per sound bites also that Wilson had tried to strangle Foster in a pile during those years, I'm assuming 2002-03.

I honed in,
I knew Arian played at Mission Bay HS and searched to find Jimmy at Pt Loma HS.  Not only did I find this out, but that Wilson had had other struggles too......

The vid clip is pretty funny, hits a connection to San Diego and has some history with a moral.  You never know............karma does come back, when you cross someone....it just might come and bite you in the ass.

My two cents......enjoy.

GET OFF HIS BACK

PLEASE GET OF JARED GAITHER'S BACK, LITERALLY!

I'm so tired of hearing the media and fans bitch and moan on behalf of something they have never experienced.  Nor have they ever been athletes, or it appears that way as I continue to hear the questioning of his health.  First of all I don't think anyone can talk UNLESS you've had serious back issues.  Now I haven't spoken with Jared recently so I don't know the whole story, but I do know back issues.  I am a former athlete, I still play sports, but not on anything close to that level.  I've had many injuries, par for the course, if your scarred to get hurt than don't play!  I have plates, screws, washers, sprained ankles, MCL & ACL injuries, broken ribs, punctured lung, concussions, fractured hip and an 18MM bulging disc.

What I can say is that the back has been the scariest injury of all.   I wouldn't sleep for 3 months at a time, nervous to move the wrong way after getting up from a chair or reaching for something for fear of not being able to move or be out of commission for lengths of time.  It's mortifying, it still is.  There was a fear that I may be completely disabled, NOTHING that I have encountered even comes close to this injury.  I have dropped to my knees, been reduced to laying on ice, legs elevated on the ground.  BACK ISSUES ARE IMMOBILIZING!!  They put real fear in you, its not like a sprained ankle or broken bone, you cant just wrap it and play with it, (and tell yourself your being a puss for not participating) with total uncertainty of the outcome.  After years and I mean years of being scared, I finally gave in and skated anyways for I was going to hurt no matter what I did, grocery shop, fold laundry or even get into my car.  Now, let me re-inerate I have NOT spoken with Jared recently or about his injury nor do I aim to put words in his mouth, all I know is my own experience.

A few years ago I had steroid narcotic epidurals in my back a series of 3, this after three different opinions as again let me state, i was scarred to death for them to do anything to my spine for fear of being totally handicapped.  It helped a lot!  Along with as much PT my insurance would allot, MRI only after I had done PT for 3 months as well, LOL.   Also I heard on the radio today, total ignorance that all Jared needed to do was see a Chiropractor or sit in a ice bath or get a massage, ARE YOU KIDDING!~the morons, don't you think he would of already done all those things and this only puts a band aid on it.  I was hooked up by one of the best Sports Therapist/ Chiropractor's and I went every week, for 4 years or more, it was the only day I felt good.  So again, GIVE HIM A BREAK!  Unless you've had  a different experience, but when your back is failing you, any move I MEAN ANY move can make you drop to your knees.

Let the amazing Blindside who the CHARGERS are grateful to have mend, obviously he doesn't want to talk about it, it's pretty scary stuff, which you only know if you've been through what he's going through.

SPEEDY RECOVERY WISHES JARED!

WHAT POSITIONS GO DEEPEST IN SAN DIEGO

What positions do the Chargers go deepest ?
Decisions solidified in hours for the final 53-man roster.
Twenty-two players dreams will be put to rest, a practice squad or if lucky another organization. These preseason games are sometimes the closest these players get in their NFL careers. 704 will be let go throughout the NFL by this evening.

Sometimes the Cinderella story follows, take Atari Bigby, in his first year was undrafted, released by two teams in the first few months of the 2005 season.  The Dolphins and then the Jets after the preseason, made it to the practice squad of a 3rd team the Green Bay Packers a few months later just before Christmas, the stars lined up and he was elevated to the active roster.  Talk about character building, determination & drive!  Since he has been one of the most talked about SS in the league, a difference maker.  He enters his 8th season in the NFL in San Diego after a year with Seattle.

The question still looms, what positions go deepest? For that's what it boils down to today.
Chargers HC Norv Turner probably has had a tentative list, however all holds are off after last nights game in SF. The slaughtering defeat vs a mid season looking Niners made it difficult to shine or sway a vote on staying.

You've got 33 positions;  offense, defense & special teams (which could go to two in special teams with kick & punt returns, both requiring a different return man & scheme).  How many receivers, backs, O-linemen, QB's, D-backs, ends, secondary players remain on the roster?? What injuries do you need reserve?  In San Diego the number one that shines at present is the Offensive line, the middle three, but that's just apart of the equation you have to allot for injuries.  Quite a difficult puzzle. Who waives good-bye to San Diego?  By this evening the puzzle will be revealed.

2 AND 0; NEED I SAY MORE

ALTHOUGH A BITTERSWEET ENDING TO THE 28-20 W OVER THE COWBOYS

A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD TD CATCH MADE HEARTBREAK IN LOSING VINCENT BROWN TO A BROKEN ANKLE FOR 8 WEEKS.  MY HEART DROPPED WITH AND FOR HIM, AMAZING PRESENCE AND PASSION.  A REAL ASSET ON THE FIELD AND IN THE LOCKER ROOM. SENDING POSITIVE, GOOD, SPEEDY RECOVERY WISHES AND PRAYERS TO THIS DYNAMITE GUY!!
AND TO SEE HIM RUNNING ROUTES ON GAME DAY IN A SHORT FEW MONTHS OR LESS!

FIRST THOUGHTS WITH ONE VIEWING

CONS:

OBVIOUSLY VINCENT BROWN

NO JARED GAITHER,
THE BLIND SIDE ROLL TAKEN AT PRESENT BY ROOKIE BRUIN, MIKE HARRIS THE 6'-5",  330 POUND ER HAS LINED UP AGAINST SOME OF THE TOUGHEST IN THE LEAGUE,  NOT BAD,  BUT I THINK WITHOUT JARED THE PRESSURE AND SECURITY THAT HE OFFERS HELPS THE RUN AND DEFINITELY HELPS PHILLIP.. HE IS MISSED I'LL SAY, WITH THAT SAID HARRIS IS DOING AMAZING!

RIVERS 2 INT'S
WELL NOT AS BAD AS IT SOUNDS IN MY BOOK, ONE NOT ON HIM AT ALL AND THEN IF YOU TAKE A CLOSER LOOK, ALL 3 TO MEACHAM AND TH ATS NOT THROWING THE BAT AT ROBERT, JUST FEEL IT WARRANTS MORE COMMUNICATION AND TIME TO GET ON THE SAME PAGE.  HE WAS 13/15 WITH 109 YARDS!  WITH 2 INT'S HIS RATING DISMAL, BUT NOT ALL WHAT IT APPEARS.

ONE QUESTION ARISES, WHY NOT MORE MCCLAIN TO HELP THE RUN? THIS IS A TRUE FULLBACK!!

POSITIVES:

MANY, I SHOULD OF STARTED WITH THE PRO'S, BUT SINCE THE CONS NOT SO BAD
AND FIXABLE, IT IS THE PRESEASON, REMEMBER.   DEFENSE PLAYED VERY CONSERVATIVELY, PAGANO WASN'T GOING TO THROW THE CARDS OUT, COME ON IT'S THE PRE!  STATISTICALLY 1st, 2nd & 3rd STRING ALL SHARED IN THE THE GREAT STATS. WITH BEING DEAD LAST IN THE NFL ON 3RD DOWNS LAST SEASON.  THIS IS EXCITING NEWS!

TOPPING THE DEF LIST;

SHAREECE WRIGHT!! PLAYER OF THE GAME;  3 TACKLES,1 SACK,1 INT, 1 FORCED FUMBLE
DONALD BUTLER & QUENTIN JAMMER WITH 6 SOLO TACKLES A PIECE!

MELVIN INGRAM
ATARI BIGBY IN THE SECONDARY, JUST HAVING HIM FLYING AROUND!

4 TOUCHDOWNS!!

CHARLIE WHITEHURST 18YD TD TO VINCENT BROWN
AND MIKE WILLIE'S 38-YARD TD CATCH.

CHARLIE WAS LOOKING GOOD!!
7/12 122 YARDS, 2 TD'S AND A RATING OF 132.6, ONE FUMBLE THOUGH.
JACKIE BATTLE'S 2-YARD TD RUN
JACOB HESTER'S 4-YARD TD RUN

TD'S SPLIT DOWN THE MIDDLE ON THE GROUND AND IN THE AIR AND THE STATS REFLECTED THE SAME.
27 PASSING ATTEMPTS TO 26 CARRIES.
225 PASSING YARDS TO 53 RUSHING.

ALWAYS ANTOINIO GATES, JUST SEEING HIM ON THE FIELD!
RANDY MCMICHAEL HIGHLIGHT

RECEIVING CREW IS BANGING! SPLIT BETWEEN 12 RECEIVERS, DANG!!
MINUS THE SHORT LOSS HOPEFULLY OF VINCENT BROWN.

MICHAEL SPURLOCK SHINED ALSO ON SPECIAL TEAMS!

RONNIE BROWN

ALSO ROOKIE EDWIN BAKER, LOOKING TOUGH ALTHOUGH THE FOURTH THE KID HAS SOME SMASH MOUTH  RB/FB BLOOD. 4 CARRIES FOR 12 YARDS.

THAT'S MY QUICK HITS!

CHARGERS AND COWBOYS SCRIMMAGING TODAY AND TOMORROW, THEN ITS PREP AND OUT TO MINNESOTA FOR A FRIDAY EVENING GAME VS THE VIKINGS.

Two-A-Days at CHARGER PARK

New Aquistions, Draftees, Free Agents and Vets
all at 4020 Murphy Canyon Road, AKA "Camp".

The Grind in full swing.  Two-a-days in progress.

This was my first day this season down at camp.

Exciting energy going on everywhere great to see ALL!!!!
Players,  Chargers PR, coaches, media, interns and even families.

Had the opportunity to meet and talk with Ronnie Brown, former Auburn Tiger who joins 2 other alums on the team.  The colgate kid is definately a dynamite addition to the huddle and the locker room with his contagious smile and charismatic playful ways it even transends on the field!  What an asset!

Atari Bigby, what an inspiration, I think a silent captain for sure.  Then watching him practice, flying & leaping  all over the field, batting balls FOR PRACTICE!  Pretty awing, why he's been sooooo good.
Also interviewed Atari, check out video coming soon.

As always great to see a smiling Antonio Gates participating, healthy and doing what only he can do , even playing dominos.

But what came to me driving home was not all the smiles & faces but what materialized in front of my own eyes.  Families, players and their families, coaches and their families, scattered all over the practice field.  An extremely hard task for me not to capture some pictures, but it was so endearing, I wanted to be respectful... my heart sighed.   Watching the Weddle family, all I can say is that they are a walking billboard to have a family.  Shortly after  I saw Jammer playing with Eric Weddle's eldest daughter and I saw something I don't get to see that these players are not only close on the field and in the locker rooms but off in their off time as well,  true friendships, life long ones,  the most prized posession's, sharing families.

Chargers are practicing at MCAS Miramar www.miramar.usmc.mil/ today.  Pre-season game number two vs the Cowboys tomorrow at the Q and then Monday and Tuesday they will be having scrimmages, hope to go and check it out.

Lil Package on my visit coming soon, due to some power issues it was a little delayed.
